In Southeast Asia (Region 10), there are 16 countries and 51 universities, including Vietnam.
To support member universities in the process of self-assessing their training programs, ACBSP organizes an "Annual Conference" each year. This event provides a platform for institutions to share experiences, discuss challenges, and seek appropriate support solutions from ACBSP members.
This year’s conference was held on February 17-18, 2023, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Representing the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB), the attending faculty members included:
Additionally, the conference welcomed representatives from the Institute for Quality Assurance under VNU, as well as leaders from various Vietnamese universities, including National Economics University and FPT University.
In his opening speech at the conference, Professor Biswajeet Pattanayak, Rector of ASBM University (Asian School of Business Management) and Chairman of ACBSP Region 10, warmly welcomed faculty members from member universities. He also expressed his gratitude for their participation and contributions to the overall development of ACBSP worldwide.
During the two-day conference, university representatives shared their experiences in implementing accreditation under ACBSP standards, discussed challenges, and addressed various issues arising from the unique conditions, models, and training approaches of each institution. The conference allocated significant time for discussions, allowing universities to exchange insights while ACBSP leaders provided guidance and tailored solutions based on the specific characteristics of each institution.
For the VNU University of Economics and Business, the accreditation of academic programs under ACBSP standards has been incorporated into the university's implementation plan since 2021 (according to Official Document No. 1765/UEB-QA dated June 15, 2021). This initiative is also a key objective in the university's internationalization strategy.
Recognizing the significant benefits that ACBSP accreditation brings to the university, the Party Committee, University Council, and the Board of Rectors have provided close guidance and taken concrete actions to make this accreditation a strategic priority. Accordingly, faculties, institutes, and relevant units are required to implement specific, practical, and effective measures to ensure successful accreditation while continuously improving the quality of academic programs.
Attending the annual ACBSP Conference is a valuable opportunity for faculty members of the VNU UEB to share with ACBSP leaders and mentors about the university’s ongoing initiatives, as well as the challenges faced during the accreditation process. This is particularly important as, in early Q2 of 2023, the university plans to send students to participate in the Peregrine exam, requiring strong support and experience-sharing from ACBSP members, the Peregrine exam organizers, and universities that have previously had students take the exam.
Beyond participating in the conference’s official activities, faculty members from the VNU UEB also held a working session with Professor Sok Uttara, Vice Rector in charge of Quality Assurance at CamEd Business School, regarding credit transfer agreements between the two institutions. The meeting was highly productive, paving the way for promising collaborations in the near future.
Over the course of the two-day conference, faculty members of the VNU UEB actively participated in all sessions, attentively absorbing the discussions and insights shared. At the same time, they took advantage of networking opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with partners regarding the university's initiatives outside the official agenda. These engagements have yielded significant outcomes, contributing to the university’s successful implementation of the accreditation process for its academic programs.
