On March 20, 2025, National Chengchi University (NCCU) – Taiwan (China) warmly and cordially welcomed and held a working session with a delegation of faculty members and students from the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB-VNU). During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the development orientations of their respective institutions and potential future collaborations.
Representing National Chengchi University were delegates from the College of Commerce (specifically the Department of Finance), the Office of International Cooperation, and students. The delegation from the Department of Finance included Professor Hong-Yi Chen – Chair of the Department, and Associate Professor Kendro Vincent. The Office of International Programs was represented by Professor Cherry Huang – Senior Manager, and Yen-Chun Lin – Administrative Specialist of the Office of Doctoral Programs. Representing the VNU University of Economics and Business were Dr. Dao Cam Thuy – Vice Dean of the School of Business Administration, along with faculty members from the School of Business Administration, the Faculty of International Business and Economics, the Faculty of Development Economics, and students.
At the working session, Professor Hong-Yi Chen introduced National Chengchi University, emphasizing its establishment in 1927 as a public university in Taiwan. National Chengchi University (NCCU) was founded in 1927, and for more than 9 decades of re-formation and development, we have been upholding our motto, “Harmony, Independence, Balance and Preeminence”, We continue to refine our teaching methods and research in order to nurture talents for our country and society. NCCU also has extensive international collaborations with over 470 academic organizations, including student exchange programs, visiting scholar programs, and academic cooperation programs in more than 30 countries.
Representing the VNU University of Economics and Business, Dr. Dao Cam Thuy expressed gratitude for the warm reception from Chengchi University and also highlighted recent developments at the University of Economics: such as its improved ranking in the QS Rankings, with the field of Accounting & Finance being featured in the QS World University Rankings by Subject in the top 301-375 globally, making it one of the first two Vietnamese institutions to be ranked in this field by QS; the field of Business & Management Studies rising 100 places to be ranked in the top 451-500 globally; and the field of Economics & Econometrics improving by 50 places to be ranked in the top 401-450 globally. Furthermore, the VNU University of Economics and Business has recently completed international accreditation from ACBSP.
Dr. Dao Cam Thuy stated that the two universities have a long-standing cooperative relationship in training and scientific research. For example, Chengchi University has provided doctoral scholarships to PhD candidates from the VNU University of Economics and Business in recent years, and notably, Chengchi University had a visit and working session at UEB in January 2024.
During the working session, both sides agreed that in the near future, UEB and NCCU will further promote cooperation in various areas such as joint scientific research, organizing scientific conferences, exchanging faculty and students, and transferring knowledge. At the conclusion of the working session, both sides exchanged souvenirs and took a group photo.
