On October 27, 2023, a delegation from the University of Economics and Business - VNU, led by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Anh Thu - Vice-Rector, attended the 9th annual International Conference for Young Researchers in Economics and Business - ICYREB 2023, hosted by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).

The delegation also included Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Thúy, Head of the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Nhung, Head of the Financial Investment course, Faculty of Finance - Banking, and authors presenting at the conference.

ICYREB 2023 served as a research and academic exchange playground for young researchers from 10 leading universities in the fields of Economics and Business nationwide, including UEH, University of Economics - VNU Hanoi, Banking Academy, National Economics University, Foreign Trade University, University of Commerce, Academy of Finance, University of Economics - University of Da Nang, University of Economics - University of Hue, and University of Economics and Law - VNU Ho Chi Minh City. The conference provided an opportunity for young scientists to publish and discuss research results related to economics and business, contributing theoretical and practically reliable ideas and solutions for policy development.

This year's ICYREB, themed "Sustainable Economic Growth - Business Ecosystem Orientation through Technology and Innovation," was hosted by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. The main theme of the conference not only focused on the latest development trends in science and technology but also emphasized the importance of building a modern business ecosystem based on technology application and innovation. It also highlighted the significance of leveraging technology and innovation to promote sustainable economic growth, aiming for a future beneficial to both communities and businesses.

The conference garnered special attention from the academic community, with over 200 guests including young scientists, lecturers, university leaders, and experts in Economics and Business from both domestic and international spheres. It attracted numerous quality research submissions from the young research community, both local and international. Out of 225 submitted papers, 188 were honored for publication in the conference proceedings, and 70 were accepted for presentation, demonstrating the conference's growing attention and reputation in the academic community.

At the conference, Professor Dr. Chris Schinckus, Head of Business and Computer Science at the University of Fraser Valley (Canada), spoke on “Future-Proofing Economy: How Distributed and Sustainable Economies Drive UN SDGs.” Following this, Dr. Lesly Goh, Senior Technology Advisor and Former Technology Director of the World Bank Group, presented on “Sustainable Economic Growth Developing Business Ecosystem Leveraging Technology and Innovation.”

Additionally, there were 15 parallel discussion sessions on topics such as (i) Management, Trade, Tourism; (ii) Finance, Banking, Accounting; (iii) Economics, Development Economics; (iv) Law; and (v) Innovation and Technology, along with a pre-conference theme “How to make your research paper stand out?” held on October 26, 2023.

Within the conference framework, 20 research papers were awarded the “Best Paper Awards,” including 04 papers from the University of Economics and Business - VNU by Dr. Nguyễn Thị Nhung, MSc. Lưu Hạnh Nguyên, MSc. Giang Thị Minh Thảo, and MSc. Cù Nguyễn Hà Trang – Lecturers of the Faculty of Finance - Banking.

Concluding this year's conference, representatives from the 10 co-organizing institutions met to discuss, agree, and pass the rotating flag for hosting the 10th ICYREB in 2024 to the Foreign Trade University.
