In today's globalized landscape, international accreditation serves as a crucial benchmark for the quality and reputation of educational programs. VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) is steadily progressing towards accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a leading global accrediting body for business programs. This achievement will not only solidify UEB's standing within the Vietnamese education system but also provide students with a significant advantage in the international job market.
During the third quarter of 2024, the university undertook several key activities in pursuit of this goal:
Completion of the Eligibility Application and Preparation of the Self-Study Report
UEB has completed two critical phases of the ACBSP accreditation process: the Eligibility Application and preparation for the Self-Study Report. The Eligibility Application provided a general overview of UEB's business programs, encompassing its mission, vision, educational objectives, and key quality indicators such as admission rates, graduation rates, post-graduation employment, and student satisfaction.
The Self-Study Report, considered the most crucial and complex stage, is a comprehensive self-assessment of program processes, operations, and outcomes based on ACBSP standards. Through this report, UEB evaluates its compliance with ACBSP requirements and identifies areas for improvement to enhance the quality of its programs.
Series of Expertise Sharing Workshops
Throughout Q3 of 2024, UEB hosted several workshops featuring experts from the PHER project and the National Economics University. These workshops provided faculty members with valuable opportunities for discussion, knowledge sharing, and updates on the accreditation process. Specifically:
- "Consistency in Curriculum Development and Adjustment according to ACBSP Accreditation Standards" (August 13, 2024) highlighted the process of developing and adjusting curricula to meet ACBSP requirements, emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistency and continuity in program evaluation and adjustments
- "Accreditation of Economics and Business Programs - Experiences and Lessons from the National Economics University" (August 14, 2024) introduced 10 international accreditation organizations, broadening UEB's understanding of suitable accreditation options. Experts also shared insights into Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) systems, emphasizing the importance of quality management and commitment from all departments.
- "Business Programs Adjustment and Improvement from Stakeholder Perspectives" (August 27, 2024) offered diverse perspectives on the importance of gathering feedback from stakeholders, including students, faculty, alumni, businesses, and accrediting bodies. This workshop emphasized the role of stakeholder feedback in ensuring program relevance to real-world needs and industry trends.
Towards Comprehensive Educational Quality
UEB's pursuit of ACBSP accreditation is an opportunity for self-evaluation, identification of areas for improvement, and setting higher standards for educational quality. Achieving ACBSP accreditation will provide students with an internationally recognized education, access to cutting-edge knowledge, and better preparation for their future careers.
With an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, UEB strives to create a modern learning environment that meets international standards, providing students with a solid foundation of knowledge and opportunities for sustainable development.
