The UEB Productivity Club (UPC) achieved a remarkable second-place finish in the national-level "Student Productivity and Quality Knowledge Competition 2024," organized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance and Measurement Standards under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Supported by their faculty advisors, the UEB team showcased strong expertise, outperforming other universities to secure this prestigious award.
The intense final round featured five teams from UEB, the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Dong Nai High-Tech College, Nha Trang University, and LILAMA 2 International Technology College. The judging panel included prominent figures from the National Committee for Quality Assurance and Measurement Standards, the Central Government Agencies Bloc Youth Union, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. UEB was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Chí Anh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thu Hà (Institute of Business Administration).
In his address, Dr. Hà Minh Hiệp, Acting Chairman of the National Committee for Quality Assurance and Measurement Standards, emphasized the importance of student participation in promoting a productivity mindset within Vietnamese organizations and businesses.
The UPC team, comprising 21 students from five different departments, consisted of nine knowledge team members and twelve drama team members. Their well-prepared presentations, strong teamwork, and adaptability impressed the judges.
The competition involved three parts: an opening round, a general knowledge quiz, and a presentation on a productivity improvement project. UPC's captivating opening performance, "Global Business Conference - Operational Efficiency and Sustainable Development," skillfully integrated the theme of productivity and quality, highlighting the importance of eliminating wasted opportunities and human potential in Vietnam.
The team demonstrated exceptional knowledge in the general knowledge round, achieving a perfect score—the only team to do so. Their final presentation focused on “Applying IoT for Environmental Monitoring to Improve Production in Traditional Hanoi Crafts Villages.” Despite challenges in applying IoT technology, limited resources, and time constraints, the team successfully developed an IoT device to measure five key environmental indicators in three Hanoi craft villages, providing recommendations for improving production conditions and enhancing productivity and product quality. The team’s confident and professional presentation further impressed the judges.
The UEB team's second-place win reflects the university's dedication to providing a dynamic and innovative learning environment, fostering student participation in academic competitions and promoting a culture of learning, innovation, and productivity. The team received invaluable support from their faculty advisors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thu Hà, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Chí Anh, Dr. Nguyễn Khánh Huy, and Master's Trần Thị Nhung, as well as the Institute of Business Administration and the SITE International Training Institute. This success underscores the university's commitment to supporting student growth and development, allowing students to showcase their abilities and contribute to the wider community.
