Lean Management Made in Vietnam: From Vietnam to the world

On the morning of September 16, 2023, at University of Economics and Business - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the university's strong research group on Lean Management Made in Vietnam, in collaboration with the School of Business Administration (SBA - UEB), successfully organized the international scientific conference "Lean Management Made in Vietnam: From Vietnam towards the World."

This is a highly practical international conference, linking research with education, in line with the internationalization strategy of the University of Economics and Business - Hanoi National University, and the overall mission of Hanoi National University. The conference successfully achieved the following objectives:

1. Announced research results on Lean Management Made in Vietnam (Lean MIV) in recent times.

2. Shared research results on the application of Lean MIV in the public sector (healthcare, education, public administration) and businesses in Vietnam.

3. Discussed the development direction of Lean MIV in Vietnam and globally.

As for the invited guests, the conference had the honor of welcoming Professor Masaharu Ota from Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan, along with a delegation of students from Osaka Metropolitan University; Associate Professor Dr. Le Trung Thanh, the Rector; Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, Vice-Rector of the University of Economics and Business - Hanoi National University; Scientists in the field of business management and public administration from research institutes and universities; Distinguished guests from state management agencies, business associations, and companies that have applied or plan to apply Lean Management MIV.

Regarding the VNU high-level research group on Lean Management Made in Vietnam, it is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh, who heads the research team, along with members of the research team, business leaders, research students, and postgraduate students within the research group.

On behalf of the university, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh expressed his gratitude to Professor Masaharu Ota, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Dang Minh, and the entire research group for Lean Management Made in Vietnam. They worked together to successfully organize the international conference and the research exchange program between students of Osaka Metropolitan University and students of the School of Business Administration at the VNU-UEB.

In the following section, scientists and researchers shared the results of their research on the application of the Lean Management theory "Made in Vietnam" in various fields such as healthcare, education, and public administration. The research results and the application models presented garnered significant interest from the attendees, promising feasibility in enhancing productivity, quality, and the value of products and services "Made in Vietnam" in the future.

The topics presented and published at the conference included:

1. The Lean Management Model in Vietnamese Hospitals.

2. The application of the Lean Management theory "Made in Vietnam" in various fields and the sharing of success stories from businesses that have applied the theory.

GS. Masaharu Ota, Osaka Metropolitan University presented on the feasibility of "mindset" management in training and practical application in Japan and internationally

The conference provided an opportunity for the participants to gain a deeper understanding of the "Made in Vietnam" Lean Management theory and served as a motivation for further research and application. Attendees expressed their hope to collaborate with the "Made in Vietnam" Lean Management Research Group in spreading knowledge and applying it within the Vietnamese business community, public organizations, and business associations to contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

The conference concluded with a panel discussion and a Q&A session.

This event holds significant importance within the series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
