For the 2025 intake, VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB), for the first time, award 12 full scholarships for its Master's program in Political Economy. More than just financial support, this is a recognition of those who dare to choose a niche academic path yet holds sustainable value—a field where strategic thinking, policy analysis, and development planning are the keys to the future.
Three students, three different stories, but one shared choice: to pursue a "niche" field of study to make a lasting impact.
Let's meet the first three students to receive full scholarships for the Master's in Political Economy program at UEB for the 2025 intake:
Student Nguyễn Trần Phương Anh: Aspires to study a master's in Political Economy to enhance systemic thinking in the digital age
As an Assistant to the Director at Tukigroup Corporation, a business in the e-commerce sector, Phương Anh clearly understands that shifts in institutions, laws, and policies can profoundly impact business strategy. A graduate of the Bachelor of Economics program at UEB, she returns to this field at the Master's level with a clear goal: "Political Economy doesn't train you for a specific job; it cultivates strategic thinking. In a digitalized and globally competitive business environment, understanding the policy and institutional context is a long-term advantage."
She expects the Master's in Political Economy program to be a springboard for her to advance further in research and policy consulting for businesses—especially as the digital transformation reshapes all development models.
Student Trần Thị Hà Trang: Studying a master's in Political Economy to rnhance professional expertise
Currently a teacher at a high school in Hai Phong, Hà Trang previously majored in Political Economy at the Hanoi National University of Education. For her, the Master's in Political Economy at UEB is the next logical step to improve her teaching quality and broaden her understanding of contemporary socio-economic issues. Hà Trang shares: “I learned that the Master's in Political Economy program at UEB will help strengthen my solid theoretical foundation in Marxist-Leninist political economy, as well as my ability to analyze contemporary socio-economic issues through the lens of dialectical and historical science. Furthermore, this is an important stepping stone for me to pursue further studies and perform better in my field.”
According to Hà Trang: “Political Economy doesn't just answer 'what is happening,' but also helps us explain 'why it is happening' and 'where it is heading.' This way of thinking is essential for anyone who wants to delve deep into education, research, or policymaking.”
Through her journey into higher education, Hà Trang hopes to inspire critical thinking in her students and engage more deeply in the field of political education in the future.
Student Bùi Thị Khiêm: Understanding theory to contribute value to society
A recent graduate with a degree in Political Education, student Bùi Thị Khiêm from Phu Tho province set her career goals early on in the field of teaching and public policy. Although she acknowledges the major isn't "hot" according to market trends, Khiêm has absolute faith in the long-term value that Political Economy offers and researched it thoroughly before applying to the program at UEB.
Khiêm states: “This field demands macroeconomic thinking, deep analysis, and rigorous reasoning. But that is precisely what gives students a solid foundation to contribute to education, policy, and social development.”
From the journeys of these three new students, it is clear that Political Economy is a fitting choice for those seeking a graduate program that is strategic, profound, and distinctive.
In a volatile world—from geopolitical conflicts to the energy transition, from climate change to supply chain competition—economic decisions are no longer purely technical problems. We need a holistic perspective where economics, politics, and society intersect.
Political Economy is the science that helps students:
The Master's in Political Economy may not be the choice for the majority. But for those who are truly passionate about strategic thinking and wish to create a long-term impact on social development, this is the ideal field of study. And UEB is opening that door with 12 full scholarships for deserving candidates.
