VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) has announced five new specializations within its Development Economic program, all designed to international standards, offering students exceptional learning and development opportunities starting in 2025.
The announcement has drawn significant interest from economic conglomerates, businesses, international organizations, as well as parents and prospective students.
In 2025, VNU University of Economics and Business will enroll students in five specializations within the Development Economics program: Investment and Development Economics; Service and Tourism Economics; Resource, Environmental, and Real Estate Economics; Economic and Policy Data Analysis; and Economic Information Systems and Data Science.
The specializations are built upon cutting-edge curricula benchmarked against leading universities worldwide. This ensures students gain a solid foundation of knowledge, well-equipped to meet the demands of both domestic and international labor markets.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen An Thinh, Head of the Faculty of Development Economics, highlighted six key features of the program:
- International Standards: The curriculum references the Bachelor of Economics and International Development program at the University of Sussex (UK), a world-renowned institution for development studies.
- Bilingual Training: Approximately 30% of the course credits are taught in English, enabling students to develop their language skills and integrate globally.
- Emphasis on Research: Students are encouraged to participate in research and prioritize publishing their findings in English.
- Practical Skills Focus: Increased emphasis on data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and programming in economics and business.
- Extensive Internship Opportunities: Students participate in observation internships from their first year and specialized internships in their third year, both domestically and abroad, through international collaborations with universities in Thailand, Taiwan (China), South Korea, Japan, and Europe.
- Integrated Curriculum: The program integrates in-depth specialized knowledge with a broad interdisciplinary approach, incorporating courses in economics, management, entrepreneurship, international trade, and technology, providing a competitive advantage upon graduation.
Wide-Ranging Career Prospects
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen An Thinh also noted that Development Economics graduates will be qualified to work as experts, managers, and leaders in six key areas: large domestic and international economic conglomerates; international organizations and non-governmental organizations; small and medium-sized enterprises; state management agencies; research institutes and universities, both domestically and internationally; and entrepreneurial ventures.
In addition, students receive numerous scholarships from organizations both domestically and abroad, providing strong motivation and opportunities for personal development.
