Conference with the theme “Evolving Global Value Chain Participation into Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development” organized by the VNU University of Economics and Business, in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF); The University of Adelaide (Australia); Rangsit University (Thailand); University of Salento (Lecce, Italy); Foreign Trade University (Vietnam); University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City); Sofia University (Bulgari); and Université Catholique de Louvain - Saint-Louis – Bruxelles (Belgium).
This year’s conference focuses on independent research and analysis regarding International economic integration and engagement in global value chains. It is evident that global value chains (GVCs) play a central role in promoting economic development by facilitating structural change, technology transfer and inclusive growth. This is particularly important in the context of current political and economic crises that threaten peaceful exchange between nations. Crises such as COVID-19, the Ukraine war and now the tensions in the Middle East make us painfully aware of how fragile our global order is and how important it is to strengthen resilience.
The conference has received great attention from managers, businesses, researchers, experts, and lecturers at home and abroad. After more than several months of preparation, the Conference Organizing Committee has received many of papers. The proceeding focuses on 5 main topics: (i) Digital Transformation and Innovation in GVCs; (ii) Sustainable Practices in GVCs; (iii) Resilience and Management issues in GVCs; (iv) Pattern, characteristics, and policies of GVCs and (v) Servicification and Firm Level Analysis in East Asia.
