In a strategic move to ensure that every student at the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) can access internationally standardized education and high-quality support services, UEB and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) – My Dinh Branch have renewed their cooperation agreement. The renewed partnership aims to significantly expand financial support policies and introduce new “financial leverage” products tailored specifically for students.
Under the newly signed agreement dated May 6, 2025, all UEB students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher will be eligible for 100% tuition loans with preferential interest rates, a shift from previous criteria that limited access to students with outstanding academic performance. The total loan package amounts to VND 50 billion.
Notably, students participating in international semester-based exchange programs at over 60 prestigious universities worldwide, or in short-term study tours, will also be eligible for loans covering the full cost of their international academic experiences.
Students may choose between secured and unsecured loan options. For unsecured loans, the maximum amount is VND 200 million with a loan term of up to 48 months, including a 12-month grace period on principal repayment. For loans with collateral, the maximum loan amount can reach VND 1 billion, with a term of up to 10 years.
Along with the student loan financing agreement, the two parties also signed a scholarship sponsorship contract valued at up to VND 80 million per year, specifically for financially supported students who meet academic excellence criteria (e.g., strong academic performance, active contribution to student activities). Each scholarship is worth VND 3 million annually—more than covering the annual interest for a one-semester tuition loan. In effect, this enables eligible students to access tuition loans without incurring any interest payments.
At the signing ceremony, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Quỳnh Giao, Deputy General Director of BIDV, stated: “We believe that investing in education is investing in the nation’s future. BIDV is honored to collaborate with UEB—one of Vietnam’s leading institutions in economics and business administration—in our mission to support the younger intellectual generation. The financial aid policy we introduce today is more than just a loan package; it is a commitment that every student deserves the opportunity to study, grow, and reach beyond borders, regardless of their starting point.”
On behalf of UEB, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Trúc Lê, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chair of the University Council, expressed his gratitude to BIDV: “BIDV has been a dedicated and responsible partner, supporting UEB not only through substantial financial contributions but also through trust and a strong commitment to human capital development. I believe that with this collaboration, our students will no longer hesitate when facing international study opportunities or personal development choices—because behind them stands both the University and BIDV.”
Reaffirming the value of this collaboration, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Lê Trung Thành, Rector of UEB, emphasized: “We hope that this partnership will alleviate financial concerns for students, enabling them to focus on their studies and confidently participate in international exchange programs—experiences that are vital to their holistic development while at university.”
Representing the student body, Nguyễn Kim Diệu Phương, a UEB student, stated: “On behalf of all students, I would like to express my sincere thanks to UEB and BIDV for introducing such practical financial support policies. This is truly a great source of motivation, helping us to study with peace of mind and actively pursue personal development opportunities.”
The cooperation agreement with BIDV—one of Vietnam’s Big Four banks—demonstrates UEB’s proactive approach in seeking practical solutions to help students overcome financial barriers and seize opportunities within an increasingly open and globally integrated education system.
