This event was held within the framework of the research project, "Personal Financial Management for Women in Some Coastal Provinces of Vietnam: Current Situation and Policy Solutions" led by Dr. Trinh Thi Phan Lan, a lecturer at UEB. The seminar made a practical contribution to the implementation of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
The seminar convened esteemed organizations such as the TYM Microfinance Institution, 2 Target Co., Ltd., and FIDT Financial Consulting Company, alongside numerous experts and researchers in finance and community development.
The seminar commenced with two significant presentations: "Personal Financial Management of Women in Some Coastal Provinces: International Experience and Policy Solutions for Vietnam," presented by Dr. Trinh Thi Phan Lan; and "Microfinance Institutions and Their Role in Enhancing Personal Financial Management Skills for Women," presented by MBa. Nguyen Duy Truong, Deputy Head of Credit and Development Department, TYM.
Following the presentations, participants offered insightful comments, clearly reflecting the practical needs of women in financial management and proposing feasible policy directions relevant to the Vietnamese context.
At the conclusion of the seminar, several policy recommendations were put forth to refine the action framework supporting women in personal financial management: Develop a tailored personal finance training roadmap for women in Vietnam, encompassing essential topics such as financial literacy, social insurance, life insurance, retirement planning, marital assets, and inheritance; Design flexible training programs that suit women's living conditions and daily habits, especially in rural areas, emphasizing three core skill axes: earning money, spending money, and protecting money; Strengthen official and accessible communication to raise awareness and warn against financial risks targeting women and the elderly; Adjust microcredit policies, specifically by increasing the maximum outstanding loan limit for clients and updating the definition of "low income" in rural areas to align with current realities; Expand tax incentives and support for accessing capital for microfinance institutions to enhance their capacity to serve the community; Propose submitting research findings to the National Steering Committee on Financial Inclusion, serving as a basis for adjusting or replacing current policies towards solutions more aligned with practical realities; Suggest referencing international models, such as South Africa's experience requiring commercial banks to allocate a portion of capital for financial education activities through microfinance institution networks.
These proposals not only reflect practical needs but also contribute to shaping sustainable solutions consistent with the National Financial Inclusion Strategy and the process of economic empowerment for Vietnamese women.
The seminar not only offered new perspectives on personal finance for women but also clearly demonstrated UEB's proactive role in contributing to a comprehensively developed and more equitable society.
