Recently, international students currently enrolled in exchange programs at the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB), embarked on an enriching cultural experience. They visited and participated in a baking workshop at the renowned traditional Gia Trinh bakery. The excursion also included students from the Financial University (Russian Federation) and National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan, China), along with two interns from Kelley Business School (Indiana University, USA) who are currently interning at Gia Trinh Company.
This field trip constitutes a component of UEB's extracurricular activity series, designed to provide international students with opportunities not only to acquire specialized knowledge but also to delve deeper into Vietnamese culture. At Gia Trinh, the students gained insights into the bakery's history and development, as well as the ancestral secrets that imbue traditional pastries such as bánh cốm, bánh phu thê, and bánh đậu xanh with their distinctive flavors.
Beyond mere observation, the international students actively engaged in the baking process under the dedicated guidance of skilled artisans. They had the opportunity to personally craft pastries embodying authentic Vietnamese flavors. From kneading dough and shaping cakes to the final packaging stage, each step offered the students novel and engaging experiences.
This activity not only enhanced international students' understanding of a beautiful aspect of Vietnamese culinary culture but also served as an excellent opportunity for them to interact, learn, and strengthen their bonds. Through such practical experiences, UEB aims to provide international students with a multifaceted and profound perspective on the land and people of Vietnam, thereby significantly promoting the internationalization of education and fostering a dynamic, multicultural learning environment.
These meaningful field trips and extracurricular activities act as cultural bridges, enabling international students to experience the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people and to form cherished memories during their time at UEB. Undoubtedly, these experiences will serve as invaluable assets in each student's academic and personal development journey.
