On March 21–22, 2025, a delegation of faculty members and students from VNU University of Economics & Business (UEB - VNU) participated in an international conference hosted by National Chi Nan University, Taiwan (China). This event marked a significant milestone as it was the first conference co-organized by three prestigious universities: National Chengchi University, National Chi Nan University, and VNU University of Economics & Business.
The event not only provided a valuable platform for academic exchange and international collaboration but also brought together esteemed professors from the partner institutions. The conference served as an opportunity for researchers to engage in discussions on recent studies, share experiences, and explore the latest trends in economics. Notably, this was the first time that VNU University of Economics & Business had co-hosted a conference outside of Vietnam, signifying an important step towards expanding academic cooperation on a global scale.
The conference commenced with a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Dao Cam Thuy, Deputy Director and Head of Department at The School of Business Administration. Her presentation, titled "Sustainable Marketing: Trends and Challenges for Business Development," highlighted crucial trends and challenges in sustainable marketing, a topic of growing interest within the global economic community.
In addition to the keynote speech, faculty members from VNU University of Economics & Business presented five diverse research studies:
- "The Social Effect of Foreign Direct Investment in Vietnam: Employment, Productivity, and Inequality" – This study examined the social impacts of foreign direct investment in Vietnam, focusing on employment, productivity, and economic inequality.
- "The Impact of the Sustainable and Circular Textile Strategy of the European Union on the Vietnamese Textile Industry" – This research analyzed the implications of the European Union’s sustainable and circular textile strategy on Vietnam’s textile sector.
- "Assessing the Impact of Global Value Chain Participation on Industrial Upgrading: A Cross-National Perspective" – The study assessed how participation in global value chains influences industrial upgrading from a comparative international perspective.
- "Digital Workforce Training and Employee Performance" – This research explored the role of digital workforce training in enhancing employee performance.
- "The Effect of Visual Marketing on Customer Attention and Revisit Intentions at Coffee Shops in Popular Tourist Destinations in Vietnam" – This study investigated how visual marketing influences customer engagement and their intention to revisit coffee shops in Vietnam’s major tourist locations.
Beyond strengthening the academic collaboration between the three universities, the conference provided a unique opportunity for faculty members and students from VNU University of Economics & Business to gain firsthand experience in an international academic setting. Dr. Dao Thi Ha Anh emphasized, "This event offers an excellent platform for academic exchange and expanding our collaborative networks with international colleagues. The in-depth discussions have provided fresh and valuable perspectives on our research." Similarly, student Phan Vu Linh Giang shared, "Attending an international conference at a foreign university was an unforgettable experience. I gained significant insights into research methodologies and had the chance to engage with international students, broadening my academic and cultural horizons."
In conclusion, the international conference in Taiwan (China) not only reinforced the collaborative ties between VNU University of Economics & Business and its esteemed partners—National Chengchi University and National Chi Nan University—but also represented a substantial step forward in the university’s mission to internationalize education and academic research.
