For the first time doing scientific research, students from Intake QH-2020-E KTPT 2 including Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, Tran Thi Minh Ngoc and Nguyen Tung Lam under the tutoring of Dr. Nguyen An Thinh - Dean of the Faculty of Economic Developmenthas excellently won the first prize for student scientific research at the school level and the third prize at the VNU level, and at the same time published thire research results in an international journal in the SCOPUS list. The project was carried out within the framework of a cooperation project between UEB-FDE and the Faculty of Economics, Pusan National University, Korea.
The beginning of a difficult journey
“Right from the moment we started participating in the research project, we were determined that “if we participate, we must win”. With a clear mindset and goals, our group began the research journey with full determination, making every effort to achieve the results we wanted." - Nguyen Tung Lam shares.
Hang confided about the first days when starting her journey: "Choosing and learning deeply about a topic is the biggest difficulty for students when doing scientific research. My group is no exception. We spent a lot of time on this first step. But thanks to the support of Thinh, we were able to follow closely and gradually conquer the topic. And finally, the group chose the topic "Determinants of agritourism development in green tea farms of the northern mountains of Vietnam: A hybrid approach based on the combination of diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory and PLS-SEM". To complete this research project, the lecturer and we students worked together for a year."
Overcoming difficulties
In January 2023, the group had a field trip to Thai Nguyen to conduct surveys at cooperatives in Tan Cuong and Thai Nguyen (Hao Dat Cooperative, Tien Yen Cooperative, Thang Huong Cooperative...). The results were obtained beyond expectations with 344 suitable data included in the analysis.
During the field trip, the group faced difficulties and challenges. Recalling the trip to Thai Nguyen, Ngoc said: "The trip started early in the morning in Hanoi and lasted for a day, so everything needed to be prepared very carefully. When we arrived at the location, we had to start work immediately to ensure we were on time. When collecting information, we encountered many difficulties, the group overcame all difficulties and completed the work with good results a we had hoped for.”
“After one year of participating in scientific research, the group can confidently say that we have learned a lot of valuable knowledge. The group had a new journey of learning and discovery, guided by enthusiastic and experienced lecturers. Thanks to their support and guidance, we were able to access and gain a deeper understanding of the research problems. All of this has turned our research journey into a memorable one, marking the significant growth of knowledge and practical experience of each team member.” - Shared by Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, one of the students participating in the research.
In particular, the group's paper was supported by an international cooperation project between the Faculty of Development Economics, UEB and the Faculty of Economics, Pusan National University, Korea. Dr. Nguyen An Thinh - Dean of the Faculty of Development Economics and Prof. Dr. Keunjae Lee - Dean of the Department of Economics, Pusan National University, Korea conducted a preliminary survey before the group launched the official research.
The lecturer and students completed the article and successfully published it in an international journal in the SCOPUS.
“When we learned that our group won the prize in the school level as well as VNU level, we burst into joy and this was the motivation for us to develop and expand our research topic. My team is really happy and honored when our research achievements are recognized and published in a prestigious international journal." - Tran Thi Minh Ngoc shared with a smile.
Thanks to their efforts and dedication in each task, FED’s lecturers and students achieved worthy results. Research not only helps students better understand the major but is also an opportunity to learn and hone teamwork skills, logical thinking, analytical ability, problem-solving thinking,... Especially, having articles published in international journals will help students have an impressive CV and increase their chances of applying for prestigious foreign scholarships.
